Awareness Program on Meri Life
The concept of LiFE, i.e., the Hon’ble Prime Minister introduced Lifestyle for Environment, at the World Leaders' Summit in Glasgow at the 2021 UNFCCC COP26, when he gave a clarion call to rekindle a global pursuit to adopt sustainable lifestyle and practices. In order to address the themes of Mission LiFE, MVGR College of Engineering NSS and FYFP teams, held a painting competition and awareness programme at Vijnana Vihara Residential school and Sri Saraswathi Vidya Vihara, Gudilova. On the awareness front, Dr VR Sankar Cheela, Assistant Professor, trained around 600 students on the importance of traditional knowledge, urban greening, optimising energy and water usage, and adopting a sustainable aspect of lifestyle as a part of mission LiFE. As a part of interactive session, awareness was given on the reduction of single-use plastics, the use of Eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics, responsible tourism, waste segregation at source, and biodiversity conservation. The event holistically sensitised the students and teachers in a comprehensive manner about their environment, habitat, and the need to live in harmony with nature. As a part of this event, participants took part in a LiFE pledge against littering and the menace of plastic pollution.
In connection, an art competition was conducted on the themes of Mission Life. About 220 students participated in this event. Incharge Principal Dr YMC Sekhar, said MVGR College of explained about sustainable energy and environmental initiatives in the Institute. He also stressed that the institute aims to stand as an example of demonstrating relevance of educational institutions for society. NSS program coordinator, Sri N Shanmukh Rao explained about the green initiatives in the institute like DEWATS, solar power plants (450 kWp) and biogas plant. NSS and FYFP Volunteers Poorna, Bharat, Bhaskar, Raj Kumar and others participated in this event.
