Professional Memberships

Education should not be limited to the formal education but should accustom with the changing conditions to build personnel for tomorrow’s world. This requires study of the current scenario and continuous effort in the fields of science and technology. With this motto, we came forward with the idea of forming the ISTE student chapter i.e., “Indian Society for Technical Education” student chapter.

Advantages of having professional body memberships
  • Professional Development: it is never to early too plan student’s career
  • Knowledge resources: stay abreast of what is happening in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Team spirit and organizing skills
  • Contact with experts: through guest lectures and online interactions with eminent personalities

Vision

To groom globally competent Electrical Engineers to suit the rapidly changing Industry requirements with a spirit to serve the society by continually work as an effective bridge between the aspirations of the students for a fruitful professional career and industry’s need for well-rounded Electrical Engineers with strong fundamentals and sound problem solving temperament.

Mission

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of M V G R College of Engineering in tune with its vision would offer under-graduate program in engineering to prepare students for a successful career as Electrical Engineering Professional in a very dynamically changing industry by:

  • M1. Inculcating strong Mathematical & Computing fundamentals among students that form the baseline for Electrical Engineering solutions.
  • M2. Inculcating among its students the need for continuous learning and the skills necessary to continue their education, develop professionally and push the boundaries of knowledge.
  • M3. Inculcating among its students a thorough understanding of expected professional, ethical and societal responsibilities.
  • M4. Inculcating among its students a skill set with practical exposure, making them work in groups thereby promoting team spirit and group learning environment.
  • M5. Providing a stimulating environment to students for enhancing their confidence levels, knowledge gathering, technical skill and communication skills.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):

DOMAIN KNOWLEDGE: Graduates will have the knowledge of mathematics, science, computing and engineering fundamentals, laboratory and project-based experiences, breadth and in-depth studies in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, to design, develop and solve engineering problems and shall have expertise in programming tools.

EMPLOYMENT: Graduates will succeed in engineering positions through their skills, knowledge, personality and aptitude for innovation and get employed in national or international organizations and with government agencies.

HIGHER STUDIES & LIFELONG EDUCATION: Graduates will succeed in the pursuit of advanced degrees in engineering or other fields and will have skills for continued independent, life-long learning to become experts in their profession and to broaden their professional knowledge.

PROFESSIONAL CITIZENSHIP: Graduates will have the ability to organize and present information to write and speak effective English, to work effectively on team-based engineering projects and will practice ethics and have a sense of social responsibility.

MODERN TOOLS: Graduates will design, develop, maintain devices / systems and solve electrical & electronics engineering problems using analytical methods or modern tools and techniques.

Program Outcomes:

1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

The department of EEE offers an eight-semester four-year programme of degree in EEE with a system of classification of courses. The programme offers Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) which mainly provides opportunity for students to have a choice of subjects within the programme against the fixed set of subjects currently being offered except for the limited choice of electives in the programme, with the flexibility to complete the programme by earning the required number of transferrable credits. The CBCS scheme provides student mobility within the country and even internationally, with transferrable credits earned at one institution.

To provide opportunity for the students to choose and to have portability in education, the department offers wide choice of subjects in the form of interdisciplinary and open electives to the students supported by the presence of number of diverse departments with qualified faculty members and an established culture of research and consultancy.

The first four semesters of the programme cover the fundamentals of EEE and the last four semesters cover the core concepts in the areas of electric machines, power systems and electronics in-depth. During the course study, the programme offers different subjects under core mandatory, foundation elective, audit course, core elective and open elective categories. The final semester project provides a platform for the students to learn and practice the recent trends in EEE. In this programme, students have opportunity to learn industry practices through internships and industrial visits.

Industry application oriented training programs for the engineering students would give employability to students so these programs are professional and placement specific. These kind of programs are to bridge the gap between industry and academic institution. The benefits of this training program inclusive of making students learn plc communication programming languages trouble shooting hardware and software architecture panel designing, knowledge of pressure and flow, fundamentals of PLC, HMI instrumentation etc., The training is beneficial in augmenting the skills and knowledge of students their by enhancing the possibilities to get placed in various companies.
