Vision of the Department

The Department of Information Technology would continually work as an effective bridge between the aspirations of prospective students for a fruitful professional career and information technology industry’s need for well-rounded information technology engineers’ graduates with strong fundamentals and sound problem solving skills.

Mission of the Department

Aspire to reach higher quality benchmarks in training students on all skills expected of a computer professional through:

  1. A meticulously planned yet flexible learning process administered:
    • By accomplished teachers who are encouraged to keep in touch with latest developments in their respective areas of interest.
    • With state-of-the-art infrastructure providing a stimulating learning environment.
    • Thorough student-centric delivery.
  1. Continuous assessment of the effectiveness of teaching learning processes through stake holders’ feedback.
  2. Continuous fine-tuning aimed at improvement

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO1: Graduates will apply knowledge and skills to succeed in a computer science career and/or obtain an advanced degree.

PEO2: Graduates will function ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in profession and society.

PEO3: Graduates will apply basic principles and practices of computing grounded in mathematics and science to successfully execute software related projects as a part of multi-disciplinary teams to meet customer business objectives and/or productively engage in research.

PEO4: Graduates will apply basic computing & information technology concepts and knowledge to the benefit of society.

Program Outcomes:
PO1: Engineering knowledge:
Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2: Problem analysis:
Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of  mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3: Design/development:
Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems:
Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5: Modern tool usage:
Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6: The engineer and society:
Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7: Environment and sustainability:
Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO8: Ethics:
Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO9: Individual and team work:
Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO10: Communication:
Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO11: Project management and finance:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO12: Life-long learning:
Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
Program Specific Outcomes:
PSO1 (PO1, PO2, PO3, and PO5): Pattern based approach: Apply through knowledge of Programming paradigms, constructs, architectural patterns and algorithmic patterns while coming up with solutions to complex problems that can be deployed in complex usability scenarios.
PSO2 (PO3, and PO5): Reusability and Adaptability: Assimilate, fully appreciate, utilize and evangelize component based architecture that would promote reusability, adaptability and extensibility at all levels of solution design for complex problems.
PSO3 (PO2, PO3, and PO4): Analysis and Synthesis: Demonstrate ability to both analyze existing systems with a view to understand the solution comprehensively, change/optimize the solution and to synthesize systems based on a new requirements utilizing existing infrastructure including system components that can be reused.

The department believes in thoroughly leveraging all possible means/mechanisms to optimize the teaching/learning experience of faculty/students.

  • Focuses on student-centric learning instead of single dimensional lecture based learning.
  • Provide visual aids and video lectures offered by NPTEL and CoEeRD
  • IUCEE video lectures given by internationally reputed subject experts.
  • Intranet access to in-built subject files/collated subject material and hard coded subject files.
  • Indigenously developed exhaustive Lab Manuals & Subject Files that are tailor made to meet the content delivery needs of students as per our course objectives available through intranet.

In the field of Information Technology, skillset must be updated as new programming languages are developed to suit the industry needs and new advances are made in technology. Certification programs demonstrate knowledge of latest tools and can add a niche to students in the competitive world.

In order to keep the students abreast of the upcoming technologies and industry trends, the Department train students to achieve several international certifications like:

  • Java and C by CodeTantra
  • Network Analyst (CCNA) by Cisco Systems Inc
  • Trailhead (Salesforce)
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Robotic Process Automation using BluePrism/UIPath
  • Linux Automation from Eduskills(AICTE Collaboration)

For the A.Y.2021-22, 88% of eligible students are placed with good packages in various MNCs with a highest package of 9.5LPA from Salesforce.
3 students from the same class have got admitted in International Universities to pursue higher studies

For the academic year 2019-20, 70+ companies have visited MVGR, most of them were IT related companies. More than 90% of our eligible students have been placed into various companies. 39 out of 57 ( 68.4%) students in our department got a decent placement before graduation and the highest package being 12 lakhs at CICSO, followed by 8 lakhs at value labs.

For the academic year 2020-21, 85% of eligible students have already been placed, among them one student was placed in CISCO with a package of 14 lakhs per annum..
