MVGR's CSSD organized two internal hands-on FDPs in Collaboration with MBA and EEE Departments
The Centre for Software Systems Development (CSSD) at MVGR successfully hosted two impactful Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) in November and December 2024, in collaboration with the MBA and EEE departments. These initiatives aimed to enhance faculty skills in financial analytics and embedded systems, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice.
FDP on "LibreOffice Calc for Financial Accounting"
In partnership with the Department of MBA, the CSSD organized a one-day FDP on LibreOffice Calc for Financial Accounting on November 9, 2024. Held at the Taylor Lab in the MBA block, the sessions ran from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
The program featured distinguished resource persons, including Mr. K.V. Subba Raju (Associate Professor, CSE), Mr. P. Divakar Varma (Senior Assistant Professor, ECE), and Mrs. S.B.V. Varalakshmi (Assistant Professor, IT). Participants gained hands-on experience with financial tools, covering topics such as:
- Financial goal-setting and budgeting using spreadsheets
- Ratio analysis and financial performance metrics
- Charting financial data
- Capital budgeting decisions, including NPV and IRR
This FDP aimed to equip faculty with practical financial analytics skills through the effective use of LibreOffice Calc.
FDP on "Python for Embedded and Control Applications"
In collaboration with the Department of EEE, CSSD hosted a two-day FDP on Python for Embedded and Control Applications on November 23 and December 7, 2024. Conducted at the Simulation Lab in the EEE department, this hands-on program blended theoretical insights with real-world applications.
Distinguished experts, including Dr. K.S. Ravi Kumar (Professor, EEE), Dr. Anjanadevi B. (Associate Professor, IT), Mrs. M. Beulah Rani (Associate Professor, CSE), and Mrs. K. Amaravathi (Assistant Professor, DE), guided participants through the program. Topics covered included:
- Python programming for embedded systems
- Control system applications
- Practical implementation techniques
This FDP offered valuable knowledge and skills for engineering educators and professionals, emphasizing Python’s versatility in embedded and control applications.
