A Two – Day workshop on Channel Coding in 5G
Department of ECE has organized a two day workshop on “Channel Coding in 5G” in association with Communications Society and Signal Processing Society Joint Chapter, IEEE Hyderabad Section during 24 – 25 August 2019. Dr. M. Sunil Prakash, HOD, Department of ECE has hosted the inaugural function. Chief guest, Dr. Birenjith Sasidharan, Govt. Engg. College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram inaugurated the event. As a part of this event Dr. K.V.L. Raju, Principal and Dr. K.C.B.Rao, HOD, Department of ECE, JNTUK, Vizianagaram have addressed the gathering. Dr. T.S.N Murthy, Vice Chair, Comm. & SP Joint Societies Chapter, IEEE Hyderabad Section and Assistant Professor of JNTUK, Vizianagaram has also participated in the event. The topics covered in the workshop include Basics of coding theory, LDPC Codes, Polar Codes. Dr. Birenjith Sasidharan has started the session on Basics of Coding Theory. Later Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Natarajan, IIT Hyderabad has delivered the content on LDPC Codes in the afternoon session. On the second day of workshop Dr. Lalitha Vadlamani has delivered the content on Polar codes. The main objective of this workshop is to facilitate the knowledge on principles of constructing, encoding and decoding of channel codes like LDPC Codes and polar codes. The topics enable the participants to appreciate how the speed in data transfer is increased in 5G by using Channel coding techniques.
